the long, long week

People.

It has been a busy week.

I could tell things were going to be hard this week when I was convinced for an entire day that it was Thursday, only to realize that evening that it was Monday. Yeah. That wasn’t fun.

Babs started preschool on Monday, which was quite a difficult adjustment after the long, lazy summer. The girls also started ballet on Thursday, something they had both been looking forward to for weeks. Zibbit has been wearing her little pink ballet skirt for so long that it has now turned a dingy shade of gray. It was so gross looking that I had to find a new one for her to wear to class- I didn’t want to be the slacker mommy who sends her baby to class in nasty, dirty clothes. I managed to get a few horribly blurry pictures through the observation window; that’s her in the pink, on the right hand side:

After ballet class we had to rush home to meet the delivery guys who were delivering my new Ikea furniture! Remember my empty room? Well now it looks like THIS!

It is so perfect. The floral armchairs mixed with the dark leather couch give it just the right combination of masculine and feminine, which ends up giving the whole room a great, modern feel. The bookshelves are dark enough to match our antique piano, and they hold even more of my wonderful books than I thought they would. All in all, it comes together with just the right amount of color and class to give my room the exact look I wanted. I am well pleased.

Yesterday I spent the morning cleaning frantically in preparation for Queen Beth’s arrival! She wasn’t going to be here until the afternoon, so I had time to go to therapy and talk about my crappy self-esteem. Yay! Good times! But my day got one thousand percent better when the Royal family arrived and I saw Beth’s bright and smiling face. She is such a bundle of energy, it just rubs off on everyone around her making you feel so happy and alive. She is just a joy to be around! I was a horrible hostess, and had planned to participate in the neighborhood-wide garage sale being held this weekend (we lived in a planned community, and the covenants only allow us two garage sales per year, and only during the weekend approved by the board of directors). But they were great sports, and Beth even helped me make some yummy baked goods to sell along side all my crap. It was great to just hang out with her and chat. She also got to meet my dear friend Tracey, who joined me in the garage sale.

I am absolutely pooped. All I want to do is take a luxurious soak in a bubble bath with some candles and a good book. Although I might fall asleep, which I suppose is a bit dangerous, what with the fire and drowning and all. Is 5:00 too early to go to bed?

  5. You made me cry. I miss you already. Terribly. I just wish I could bottle your hugs and take them with me to give myself as a prescription remedy for the “Missing Karli” blues.

  10. Is this before the kids found the room?
I am thinking of creating an addition to the house with a secret entrance. I think you have one behind your bookshelf :-)
